The general staff at the Animal Welfare Society of SA always goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
They are frequently the unsung heroes behind many of the Animal Welfare Society of SA’s noteworthy accomplishments and form a big part of their front-line workforce.
The shelter would like to express their gratitude and thank their very own Nomaxabiso, who is a General Assistant at the shelter (known as Ethel), who recently rescued a small family of Egyptian goslings battling to safely cross Hindle Road during peak hour traffic.
“A love of animals is an inherent job requirement for anyone in the animal welfare profession and this we are proud to state is a quality that Ethel has an abundance of”, says the Animal Welfare Society of SA.
According to Allan Perrins the AWS Head of Communications, Resource Development and Fundraising, “Ethel clutched onto that gaggle of tiny fluffy goslings as though they were the most precious possessions in her life and breathed a huge sigh of relief when she handed them over to our nursing team.”
The goslings are now with a specialist wildlife rehabilitator, and when the time comes for their release, the Animal Welfare Society of SA will be sure to involve Ethel.
