Two cases of murder and two of attempted murder are currently being investigated by Western Cape Police after four people were shot in an abandoned building in Delft on Saturday.

Upon arrival at the building, police found the bodies of two victims, both aged 25, who had sustained gunshot wounds.
‘The [two] victims were declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel,’ confirmed police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi.
Swartbooi added that the two other victims, aged 23 and 25, were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
‘The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,’ said Swartbooi.

Meanwhile, members of Operation Restore, deployed to combat the ongoing gang violence, also arrested several suspects on Friday.
‘The platoon responded to information about the sale of drugs and proceeded to an address in New Rest, Gugulethu.’
‘Upon arrival at the address they searched the premises and confiscated a consignment of drugs. They arrested and detained a 30-year-old man on a charge of dealing in drugs.’
In an unrelated intervention, the members were busy with patrols in the Shukushukuma informal settlement in Mfuleni when they saw a male changing direction and fleeing when he saw the patrol vehicles.
‘The police members gave chase on foot, apprehending the suspect and searching him. They confiscated a consignment of drugs found in his possession and arrested and detained the 40-year-old man on a charge of possession of drugs.’
Meanwhile, police members who formed part of an integrated operation deployed in Belhar followed up on information and proceeded to an address in Arundle Drive. ‘They conducted a thorough search of the entire premises and confiscated dagga and cash. They arrested and detained a 32-year-old man on a charge of cultivating and dealing in dagga.’
‘Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Athlone, Blue Downs and Bellville Magistrate courts.’
