Three ground teams from CapeNature and three CWDM firefighting vehicles with crews are battling three fire lines.
The Winelands Fire Protection Association urged all residents to ensure that no high-risk activities take place on their properties. This includes no burning, even with a permit, until further notice.
They have also requested landowners assist with mopping up and ‘active initial attack’ as resources are currently low.
Yesterday, the municipality announced that Bainskloof Pass was closed until further notice. However, it has been opened again.
Motorists should note that it could be closed at short notice again and use this route at their discretion.
