Bayside Mall, a beloved shopping centre located in the heart of the Table View and Parklands areas, has announced plans for a R352 million redevelopment project set to begin in May 2023.
The project aims to transform the mall with new retail offerings, a revamped food court, improved flow, access to the centre and a more contemporary look.
With the retail sector evolving rapidly in South Africa, Centre Manager Aadilah Ryklief believes that this redevelopment project is necessary to create a revitalised space and offering that customers can enjoy with their families, Tableview Info reports.
As an owner-managed property by Growthpoint Properties, Bayside Mall is committed to a hands-on approach to management and investment to ensure continued success for the retail asset.
The redevelopment project will address several key areas, such as the introduction of more on-grade parking, additional access and egress points, and dedicated parking for taxis to minimise traffic impact in the parking area.

The main anchor tenant, Checkers, will be repositioned, and Shoprite will be added to the tenant mix. The two supermarket anchors will be located at opposite ends of the centre, providing a more balanced feel.
Checkers and Shoprite are scheduled to trade in their new spaces by December 2023.
The redevelopment will be rolled out in phases over approximately 18 months to ensure a smooth transition for tenants and shoppers.
Throughout the process, Bayside Mall will remain open for trade and plans to host an array of refurbishment specials and activities to excite and delight loyal customers for their support throughout the transition.
‘We believe the end result will be a quality product that all stakeholders can be proud of, and shoppers will not be able to resist,’ explained Ryklief.
