The Black Business Council (BBC) has expressed that Eskom members should be axed for failing to manage the loadshedding crisis.

BBC’s call is directed to Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter and his COO, Jan Oberholzer.
de Ruyter has been an Eskom CEO for three years, and the BBC feels that he has had enough time to turn around the electricity crisis despite the inherited problems that the CEO and COO are facing.
At the same time, the BBC’s CEO, Kganki Matabane, says they welcome the newly elected board members.
According to The South African, Matabane said, “Our beloved country is becoming a laughing stock of the world and a failing state due to lack of political will to hold those who are paid to provide reliable electricity to account. We call for De Ruyter and the board to do the honourable thing and leave Eskom.”
On 30 September, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and the Cabinet announced that they have reshuffled the Eskom Board and since “2018, all 13 vacancies on the Eskom board have been filled.”
