An apparent hit in Cape Town has become the subject of a police investigation after a local businessman was shot and killed this morning.

A murder case has been opened following the incident on the corner of Bosmansdam and Omuramba roads, near Montague Gardens at around 8am.
News24 reports that the victim is a prominent Palestinian businessman, who was driving a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, when several gunshots were fired. The vehicle sped off and drove into oncoming traffic.

The shooting was confirmed by SAPS provincial spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg who added that police were looking into the matter.
‘The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident Wednesday morning at about 08:00 in Bosmansdam Road, Milnerton – where an adult male was shot and fatally wounded – are under investigation,’ he said.
‘According to [a police] report, a motorcycle stopped next to the victim and fired several shots at him. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is yet to be established,’ Twigg added.
