Cape Town Cycle Tour 2022 winner, Kim Le Court, shared a shocking post on Facebook that had South Africans outraged after thieves stole 12 bicycles belonging to the Mauritian National Team at a guesthouse in Paarl.
She said the team is scheduled to fly to Egypt on Friday afternoon for the All African Championships, and has urged South Africans to share the information far and wide, and contact her or anyone from the team to help find the perpetrators.
Social media has largely reacted to crime in South Africa as one person said “All I can say Is this is S.A they steal everything. Hope you find your bicycles” while another Facebook user said “I am ashamed to say I am a South African !! To treat foreign visitors like that? This country is fast becoming a big crime scene!!”
Others have speculated that this could be “an inside job” and another said “Welcome to the paradise of AFRICA …….” There have also been discussions surrounding security measures as someone expressed: “Don’t beat around the bush people …… Our country is Totally F#cked up !!”
