As crime runs rampant in the Mother City, police are taking a stand and cracking down on gun violence.
According to EWN, police arrested a suspect in Kraaifontein for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspect was arrested early Monday morning and attempted to flee from the police.
“Police members gave chase the 23-yer old man was arrested and detained when he was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition,” said the police’s Joseph Swartbooi.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday afternoon police sprung into action and raced to an Eerste River post office to stop a robbery in progress. A shootout ensued and four bystanders were wounded as a result, including a 30-year-old police constable. The 21-year-old suspects were arrested a few minutes later after attempting to flee the scene, as per News24.
