After a nail-biting finale and over 30-million votes tallied this week, our very own Paxton Fielies, 17, walked away with the South African Idols title, beating out Mthokozisi Ndaba, 25, from Durban. Fielies who comes from Bishop Lavis was a strong contender throughout the show and belted out her songs effortlessly.

She is the youngest contestant in Season 13 of Idols. Fielies told Cape Town Etc this week that she was more than ready for a win and very excited to boost her career to new heights.

She started singing at the tender age of seven, Fielies sang in church, at school concerts and at home. When she was in high school she didn’t exercise her vocals until her mum talked her into auditioning for Idols.

Her dream collaboration would be a duet with Rihanna, Fielies said she loves her music.

Before the winner was announced, Idols judge Randall Abrahams told both finalists, “This is a fantastic platform, a great springboard to kick off your career, make the most of it.”

Unathi Msengana welcome both artists to the music community. And popular Somizi told Paxton that he believes in her capability and that she is definitely going places with her talent.

Congratulations Fielies, we can’t wait to see your name up in lights.
