The man is allegedly known within the community for his involvement in criminal activities, including gang-related issues and cable theft.
Bonteheuwel ward councillor Angus McKenzie praised residents for their swift response in alerting law enforcement and called for the suspect to be charged under the Criminal Matters Amendment Act, which could result in no bail and a minimum sentence.
‘The suspect, who is believed to have caused major problems for the community and was also linked to the murder of a Bonteheuwel mother a few years ago, is now behind bars,’ the report quoted McKenzie as saying.
