Chilling screenshots of CCTV footage detailing the murder of top prominent Cape Town detective and Western Cape Anti-Gang Unit section commander Charl Kinnear have recently been made public.
In the images obtained by Netwerk24, a man wearing a red hoodie and black Adidas sweatpants can be seen walking down Gearing Street and then shooting Kinnear five times as he sits in his car outside his Bishop Lavis home.

Kinnear (43) was gunned down in front of his home shortly after 3pm on Friday afternoon [September 18], according to SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo.

Brigadier Novela Potelwa said Kinnear was found in his vehicle, shot several times in the upper body. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Kinnear was attached to the Western Cape Anti-Gang Unit as a section commander involved in investigations into several high profile cases resulting in multiple arrests. He was the investigating officer on the extortion case of alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack, and many other similar cases.

Former rugby player Zane Killian (39) appeared in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Friday, September 25 in connection with the murder. He was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and the illegal interception of communications. Kilian is expected back in court on October 5.
