With increased activity along the pass and incidents such as the one witnessed on Monday, motorists and cyclists are urged to be patient and tolerant of one another.

A cyclist identified as Brent Hubert (56) is currently in the ICU with severe head trauma after colliding with a motorbike, as reported by The South African.
Neil Robinson, CEO of Pedal Power, provided an update on Hubert’s condition, stating that although he remains in a serious condition, his vital signs are stable.
Eyewitnesses of the incident indicated that the motorcyclist involved had overtaken a vehicle illegally, leading to the collision.
The identity of the motorcyclist remains unknown but police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said that police were investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
In a separate incident before Christmas, a cyclist was struck by an alleged drunk driver in Glencairn, Cape Town, during an early morning training ride.
The driver faces charges including attempted murder, leaving the scene of the accident, and driving under the influence. Currently out on bail, the accused awaits a trial scheduled for April in the regional court.
Robinson told News24 that incidents like these are a result of ‘lawlessness on our roads and a lack of respect for other road users.’
