The City of Cape Town’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department has advised residents in Cape Town’s Central Business District (CBD) and surrounds that necessary electricity infrastructure maintenance will be carried out on Saturday, 13 April and 20 April, according to a press statement released by the City.
Maintenance will take place from 6pm to 8am on Saturday, 13 April, and from 6pm to 8am on 20 April 2024.

The City has maintained that while the work is being carried out, residents will still have an electricity supply, but that there is a small chance of brief power interruptions or tripping when the work commences or is completed.
The electricity maintenance will also not affect all areas in the city and will be carried out in the CBD and surrounds only.
The time of restoration may be delayed by a few hours, or be affected by loadshedding if implemented by Eskom.
Residents are also encouraged to ‘switch off appliances as a precaution’ if supply interruptions are experienced and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
