The City of Cape Town is on a mission to empower homeownership through its newly launched initiative, the Festive Deeds Challenge.
Led by City Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim, and officials from the Human Settlements Directorate, the challenge aims to deliver 1000 title deeds to new qualifying homeowners by the end of the year.
Councillor Pophaim conducted door-to-door visits in Kewtown and Crossroads, handing over title deeds to qualifying homeowners. This is part of a larger effort to accelerate housing delivery and empower residents through property ownership.
‘We’ve allocated R21.6 million this year to issue title deeds, and we are determined to surpass our goals,’ said Councillor Pophaim.
With over 12 000 title deeds already in the Directorate’s registry, the Festive Deeds Challenge pushes for greater accessibility to property ownership, unlocking various opportunities for beneficiaries.
The City plans to intensify its efforts with a series of upcoming events and continued door-to-door visits.
Beneficiaries who have yet to receive their title deeds are encouraged to reach out or visit the Cape Town Civic Centre Customer Service Centre on the Second Floor at 12 Hertzog Boulevard, Foreshore, or call 021 400 2008.
