The City of Cape Town (COCT) has alerted all citizens to do their license disk renewals online using e-Services as there is another peak expected during the month of August.
According to the COCT, many license disks have expired between June and July 2021, due to the Covid-19 lockdown extension given to motorists in 2020 that has come to an end.
Using e-Services, online applicants are looking at a four to six week waiting period for their renewals. The site may face high volumes and delays in processing. If you feel more comfortable visiting an office, it has been recommended that you phone ahead to make sure it’s open, reports Meme Burn.
“We also remind motorists that offices may have longer queues during this time, due to the high volumes of 2020 licence renewal extensions that are coming to an end,” the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance and Executive Deputy Mayor, Alderman Ian Neilson, said in a statement.
“We thank residents for their support and patience during this past year. During these abnormal times, the City continued to operate its customer offices as per our normal operating standards as far as possible,’ Neilson reiterated.
Applicants can access online services on the COCT’s e-Services site. You will need to register with:
