City of Cape Town is calling on members of the public for assistance in tracking a suspect after an off-duty law enforcement officer was shot and rushed to hospital on Friday night.

The officer sustained a head wound after he was shot in Hillview just after midnight.
According to JP Smith, the officer left his residence with friends when they walked past a group of people in the street.
‘Shortly after, two shots were fired in their direction,’ said Smith in a Facebook post.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to report it to the City’s 24-hour tip off line on 0800 11 00 77.
‘This is the third shooting of a law enforcement officer in just over a month,’ said Smith. ‘We are doing everything possible to assist SAPS in finding those responsible’.
Smith added that a reward is on offer for information that leads to a successful arrest and prosecution in this case.
