If you live in the Cape Town CBD you can expect water interruptions tonight so stock up on water.

The City of Cape Town posted a warning for those who live in the City’s CBD, Foreshore and Zonnebloem areas – to expect water interruptions because of water pressure testing. Residents in these areas will have to store municipal water for drinking use between 10pm this evening and 4am tomorrow morning.

Water pressure testing allows the City to further reduce water usage. This is a method used to test the local reticulation network.

Testing will periodically take place across the City’s metro, including 25 areas being prioritised based on their leak and burst rates.

The City has also requested that no households hoard municipal water supplies during these interruptions, as the water will not be shut off for long periods of time.
