The City of Cape Town (CoCT) has pledged their support for the NFL Experience taking place in the Mother City next month.

The series of activities is a part of the National Football League’s (NFL) Africa programme, a long-term, multi-market commitment to expanding the game at every level throughout the continent, and it takes place over the weekend of September 16 and 17 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CITCC).
For fans who are not frequently exposed to the sport, the event will provide an immersive American Football experience that includes everything from learning more about the League’s history to putting their skills to the test through interactive NFL football and NFL Flag activities.

This week, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said that the city had been in negotiations with the league for some time and was now gearing up for what promises to be a thrilling weekend of gridiron action.
‘The City has actively been in dialogue with the NFL for several months and is fully committed to lending support to the upcoming event,’ said Smith.
‘With a continuous focus on broadening the scope of our event portfolio, we strive to uphold Cape Town’s standing as an internationally competitive events destination.’
‘We take great pride in our collaboration with the NFL and invite all Capetonians to partake in this American Football fan experience and bring their gees.’
The NFL is the most lucrative professional sports league in the world and has the most expensive teams. It also the the most well-known sports league in the United States and has the highest average attendance (67,591) of any professional sports league in the world. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest club sporting events globally.
Individual games have accounted for many of the most watched television shows in American history and by 2015, all of the Super Bowl broadcasts were in the top five Nielsen lists of the most watched US television broadcasts of all time.
Fans can sign up for tickets, free of charge, to attend the NFL Experience: Cape Town by visiting the NFL Experience website or registering for tickets onsite on the day of the event.
