Mulder, who also serves as the party’s provincial leader, believes a coalition government will be formed in the Western Cape following the elections.
According to TimesLive, Mulder believes that the Multi-Party Charter makes a national coalition government possible.

‘At this stage, it’s difficult, and maybe premature, to say exactly how this will play out,’ said Mulder, who has been an MP for 36 years. ‘He wouldn’t rule out a return to parliament if the premiership challenge doesn’t go well, even if it’s in a different role,’ said Mulder.
Mulder stated on Wednesday that he is confident that a coalition government will be formed in the Western Cape following the elections.
‘At this stage, it’s difficult to give a final answer, but I think options are open. But in the meantime, all my attention will be campaigning for the FF Plus in the Western Cape,’ Mulder said.
‘If we succeed, the Freedom Front Plus will be part of that government. And we will obviously have to deploy people to that government who can do the job,’ he added.

Mulder stated that the Patriotic Alliance, Rise Mzansi, ActionSA, and the People’s Movement for Change were the only serious contenders among the 28 political parties contesting the province’s elections.
He stated that if the DA, which currently holds 24 seats in the 42-seat legislature, loses three seats, the majority and opposition will be split 50/50. ‘It will need the FF Plus to have the majority to govern,’ said the veteran politician.
Mulder stated that the FFP was willing to work with smaller parties that had a track record of being dependable coalition partners.
