The Democratic Alliance (DA) could potentially lose its majority vote in the Western Cape, where the party has been in power since 2009, according to a survey conducted by Victory Research, from the Social Research Foundation (SRF).
As reported by the City Press, the DA’s support on the provincial ballot currently stands at 53%, which is ‘two percentage points fewer than the 55.4% the DA received in the provincial election in 2019’.

However, a total of 59% of respondents in the province indicated in the poll that they ‘would vote for the DA on the national ballot’, the highest percentage when compared to the other political parties in the survey.
Other parties included in the Western Cape poll included the African National Congress (ANC), the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and Freedom Front (FF+).
The poll was conducted from 8 to 14 March among 815 demographically representative registered voters, with a margin of error of 5%. The poll was modelled for a voter turnout of 66%.
