The Cape of Good Hope SPCA received news confirming their inspectorate with the Law Enforcement Animal Control Unit who rescued nine dogs from dogfighting in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain on Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Jaco Pieterse and Inspector Mark Syce were on the scene.
The team obtained a court order after an anonymous tip-off with video evidence was received.
Inspectors found dogs on short static chains. Some dogs have deep tissue scaring, a clear indication of dogfighting. Inspectors also discovered backyard breeding taking place.
All the confiscated dogs are now at the SPCA animal hospital for veterinary assessment and treatment. A special thanks has been extended to the Law Enforcement Animal Control unit who are always supportive of the cause.
