Western Cape police are looking into murder and attempted murder cases after two Gugulethu men were shot dead in Heideveld, Cape Town, in the early hours of Saturday while stealing scrap metal.

According to police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie, the incident occurred when the two men and an alleged accomplice went to Netreg to steal scrap metal.

On their way back, seven unknown men, including the gunman, met them at the railway station, all of whom smoked dagga.
According to Pojie, one of them pulled out a gun and shot three men, killing two of them.
The third person escaped unharmed.
“The members who attended to the scene found two of the men fatally wounded, one on the Bishop Lavis precinct side and one within the Gugulethu precinct,’Pojie added. The third man escaped unharmed. As a result, two murder and one attempted murder case was opened for further investigation.”
Pojie urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.
