Students, early-career researchers and entrepreneurs will get three minutes to pitch their groundbreaking ideas on 22 September at the New Lecture Theatre on upper campus. These ideas include solutions to some of the most pressing challenges of today.
The pitch competition doubles as a networking forum, mobilising a diverse and interdisciplinary pool of students and early-career professionals.
The first prize comprises R15 000 and the chance to present their ideas to an international audience at the Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin later this year. The second prize will award R12 000 and the third R10 000.
During their stay in Berlin, the international lab winners will participate in an exclusive programme that includes workshops on career development, entrepreneurial skills, and academic publishing.
The global network of Falling Labs includes academic institutions from more than 60 countries.
Applications close on 9 August.
