Teams from the Eastern Cape will help Eskom crews repair the power line that collapsed in the Central Karoo on Saturday, 4 February.

The towns of Roggeveld, Laingsburg, Ladismith, Leeugamka, Swartberg, Merweville, Matjiesfontein and Prince Albert in the Western Cape, as well as Fraserburg and Sutherland in the Northern Cape, have been without power since a storm knocked down seven pylons.
According to Eskom, ‘major engineering construction teams’ from the Eastern and Western Cape are working on site.
The work includes excavating, assembling and dressing of structures and the removal of the existing collapsed structures.

The estimated time for restoration is Thursday, 15 February.
Anton Bredell, the minister of environmental affairs and development planning in the Western Cape, stated that the provincial government will supply the town with potable water and wastewater systems in the affected communities.
It will also supply generators to ensure public services such as hospitals and schools can continue operations.
