South African motorists will have to dig even deeper into their pockets as the price of petrol and diesel is expected to increase yet again. Drivers have only a few hours left to refuel their tanks before the substantial increase in fuel prices.

Petrol prices are also on the rise, though to a lesser degree. The retail cost of 93 unleaded will increase by R1.08 per litre, while 95 unleaded will increase by R1.14 per litre. Illuminating paraffin will increase by R2.02 per litre.
This means that all petrol and diesel grades will surpass the R25 per litre mark inland and exceed R24 per litre at the coast.
The CEF attributes these increases to international factors such as the rise in petrol cost, and the strength of the rand to the US dollar.
October fuel prices coastal:
- 95 unleaded – R24.96
- Diesel 0.05% – R24.30
- Diesel 0.005% – R24.52
October fuel prices inland:
- 93 unleaded – R25.22
- 95 unleaded – R25.68
- Diesel 0.05% – R25.02
- Diesel 0.005% – R25.22
