A fire that broke out in Fisantekraal township in the early hours of this morning left three people dead, another wounded and several displaced.
City of Cape Town Fire & Rescue Services crews from Durbanville, Kraaifontein and Atlantis were activated following an emergency call of a structure alight in Saartjie Baartman Street at 12:50am.

According to Fire & Rescue Services spokesperson Jermaine Carelse, the blaze was extinguished by 2:30am after it had destroyed six informal structures and left several displaced.
‘Sadly, a man, a woman and a minor (gender unknown), who sustained fatal burn wounds, were discovered under the debris,’ said Carelse.
Another adult male, who had sustained 30% burn wounds, was treated and taken to a nearby medical facility.
Carelse added that the cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage, and a SAPS investigation is pending.
