The Overstrand Municipality has been battling flames since Saturday, January 8. Roads have been closed (the R44 between Heuningkloof Kleinmond and T-junction at Arabella) firefighters have been working tirelessly, and nearly 4 000 hectares of land have been destroyed in the mountain area near Kleinmond in the Overberg region. A precautionary evacuation order has also been called for residents of Heuningkloof.
