The week started off a little wetter than locals expected this morning as significant rainfall hit Cape Town, and forecasters are predicting more showers for Tuesday.
What were predicted to be “light showers” today turned out to be heavy downpours and Capetonians are in for more rain as scattered thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday along with highs of 21°C and lows of 17°C.
As always, the rains are hugely welcomed given the city’s low dam levels, with an overall level of 52.6% and the dam with the least water, Theewaterskloof, currently standing at a level of 40.7%.
Residents, as always, were happy to receive the rain, but some took to Twitter to share their frustrations with the traffic congestion and apparently-diminished driving abilities of motorists that often seem to come with rain in Cape Town.
