Four people were killed when a truck transporting livestock collided with a passenger vehicle around 2:20pm on Wednesday outside Heidelberg.

According to the Western Cape Mobility Department, a tyre burst on the right side of the truck, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. It subsequently ran straight into oncoming traffic in the direction of Riversdale and collided with a grey Audi A4.
Although the driver sustained minor head injuries, three passengers and the driver of the Audi lost their lives.
A stop-and-go was put in place on the N2 in the direction of Swellendam. Motorists were urged to be cautious as livestock were scattered across the road.
