Fuel reduction stack burning underway at Table Mountain National Park

This proactive initiative seeks to mitigate wildfire risks and protects both the park and the nearby communities from potential fire hazards.

In a statement released by SanPark, the organisation confirmed that the controlled burns are part of a systematic strategy to reduce fuel loads in designated areas.

The objective is twofold: firstly, to diminish the likelihood of uncontrolled wildfires that can devastate natural habitats and threaten lives, and secondly, to bolster the overall ecological balance of the park.

‘Burning will be conducted in accordance with all relevant permit conditions and fire management protocols,’ SanPark reassured.

‘Smoke may be visible in and around these areas during burning operations,’ The team is urging visitors and local residents to exercise caution and remain aware of their surroundings throughout today’s operations.
