Cape Town police are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information regarding the identities of the suspects responsible for a spate of passenger robberies on Golden Arrow busses. Golden Arrow itself is offering a R50 000 reward to whoever can provide information that leads to the successful arrest of the guilty party.

“We are offering a reward of R50 000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators of these robberies. We are also looking at additional covert measures which we, unfortunately, are not able to outline in any detail as that could compromise their efficacy,” Golden Arrow said in a statement.

South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson André Traut said the latest incident took place in Eisleben Road. Passengers and the bus driver were robbed by four unknown individuals who boarded the bus at two different points along the route.

Twenty similar robberies have taken place since September.

Golden Arrow spokesperson, Bronwyn Dyke-Beyer told IOL that the bus service believes a crime syndicate is behind the incidents, and police are currently investigating several leads.
