Five men were killed and another five were injured after gunmen opened fire at a house in Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay, on Wednesday evening.

‘At around 7pm, unknown gunmen opened fire at the occupants of a house in Molokwane Street in Imizamo Yethu and a vehicle which was parked outside the house,’ confirmed police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut.
‘Five men, aged between 20 and 45, did not survive the onslaught on their life while five other men were admitted to hospital with serious gunshot wounds,’ Traut added.
He said the motive for the shooting was yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, more police officers have been deployed to Hout Bay.

The shooting in Hout Bay occurred hours after gunmen opened fire on a minibus taxi in Cape Town, injuring six people.
Earlier on Wednesday, two gunmen opened fire on passengers in a minibus taxi in Lansdowne before fleeing on foot.
Two of the victims, both women, sustained serious injuries.
Police said it was unclear whether the shooting was related to taxi violence. Locals claimed it was gang-related, citing recent gang violence in Hanover Park.
