Chico was found hanging and badly beaten in a stairwell at one of the residential complexes in Hanover Park. His recovery took months and all he now craves is a fresh start in a loving and nurturing home.
The Animal Welfare Society of SA always knew that Chico was a very special dog with selfless qualities – always ready to please and save the day which he did in the most spectacular way a couple of weekends ago when Spikey, a tiny 7-year-old Yorkie from Schaapkraal was admitted with potentially fatal tick bite fever.
Spikey needed an emergency life-saving blood transfusion or he would die.
Chico who has helped many anxious dogs settle into their new surroundings seemed like the obvious lifesaver and never flinched during the painless process.
“Yesterday (October 12) these two little “blood brothers” got to greet one another again and it was so heartening to see Chico touching noses with Spikey who is doing so well following his near-fatal illness”, says the Animal Welfare Society of SA.
If you would like to reward Chico who has been with the Animal Welfare Society for over six months with a loving forever home then please contact Lawrence on (021) 692 2626 or email [email protected].
