A remarkable journey awaits the Phoenix All Stars Cheerleading squad from Delft High School. These talented young cheerleaders have secured a spot in the South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (SAMCA) National Majorette and Cheerleading competition held in Durban.
However, they are in need of support to make their dreams a reality.
Delft High School, established in 2020, is proud to have its first cheerleading team representing the school. With a squad comprising 21 girls, this team is set to showcase their skills on a national stage.
Currently, the school offers education from Grade 8 to Grade 11, and the cheerleading team is a shining example of the school’s commitment to providing diverse opportunities for its students.
The Phoenix All Stars Cheerleading squad is made up of girls from various areas within Delft. Despite the challenges often associated with their community, including drug abuse, gangsterism, violent crimes and poverty, these young athletes bring a breath of fresh air to their surroundings.
While the team’s excitement for the upcoming competition is palpable, the financial burden weighs heavily on their minds. The accommodation costs alone for their stay in Durban from 5 July to 9 July amount to R42 000. Additionally, estimated food costs reach R10 000.

Transportation logistics are also proving to be a challenge, requiring suitable arrangements for the journey from Cape Town to Durban, as well as transportation to and from the competition venue and accommodation.
This competition is particularly significant for the team, as it marks their first entry into such a large-scale event. The chance to showcase their talent and represent Delft High School at the national level holds great meaning for these girls.
School secretary and coach Natasha Brandt has called upon the community to contribute in any way possible to help the Phoenix All Stars Cheerleading squad reach Durban.
If you are interested in making a contribution or donation to support this squad’s representation of their high school, you can reach out to Natasha Brandt by calling 021 023 2510 or connecting via email at [email protected] or [email protected].
Your support can make a world of difference to these aspiring cheerleaders and the entire Delft community they represent.
