From 1 May, petrol prices are expected to rise by about 36 cents per litre, while diesel prices are predicted to decrease by 30 to 37 cents per litre, according to unaudited month-end data from the Central Energy Fund.

This would bring the price of 95 Unleaded petrol to around R24.69 at the coast and R25.48 in Gauteng, with 93 Unleaded reaching approximately R25.14.
Diesel prices are estimated to decrease to about R21.47 at the coast and R22.23 inland.
‘The decrease to diesel prices is especially welcome as it will not result in higher input costs across various sectors, and this won’t be a driving factor in consumer prices increasing,’ the Automobile Association said.
These adjustments come amidst a trend of increasing petrol prices in recent months, driven primarily by higher international petrol prices.
The official fuel price adjustments will be announced by the Department of Energy early next week.
