Members of the SAPS arrested hijackers in a shootout in Zandvlei, Cape Town, this morning.
Images currently circulating on social media show police pinning down the hijackers following the incident, which is believed to have involved a chase before gunfire was exchanged.

The hijacked vehicle, a navy blue Mercedes Benz C200 appears to have come to a standstill on the pavement after colliding with a tree.
While police had not responded to media enquiries at the time of posting, Swisherpost reported that three K9 unit vehicles were involved in chasing down the hijackers in the Mercedes Benz C200 after the vehicle was taken in Muizenberg.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, members of the Temba Police Department also arrested a 31-year-old suspect at Carousel View North for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition following a community tip-off early this morning.
Preliminary reports indicate that police were on a routine crime prevention patrol when they obtained information pertaining to an address in the area.
Police searched the address upon arrival and recovered two unlicensed firearms and ammunition hidden inside a computer tower.
