The owners of the Hillcrest Berry Farm in Stellenbosch were victims of a home invasion on Friday morning [August 21] while they were asleep. As reported by News24, Raymond O’Grady was hurt during the incident and admitted to hospital where he is receiving intensive care treatment.

“According to information, the victims in their 70s were sleeping when three suspects who were armed with knives and sticks entered the house,” said Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, SAPS spokesperson.

Raymond was stabbed multiple times. His wife Betty was reportedly forced into their own vehicle, and ordered to drive by the attackers. They jumped out of the vehicle in the Kayamandi township outside Stellenbosch. Betty then drove back home, and was luckily unharmed.

While en route to Kayamandi the vehicle was captured on CCTV footage.
