According to the Mdzananda Animal Clinic, a non-profit animal clinic and shelter in Khayelitsha, Trouble was brought in by their ambulance service after being injured while defending his home.
‘Trouble and his dog mom were protecting their human guardians from criminals breaking into their home. They were both chasing the criminals away and running after them when the attack happened.’
Trouble sustained injuries to his leg during the incident, resulting in a broken radius and ulnar. However, he won’t require surgery because of his young age, just a splint and bandage to re-align the bones, which will grow back in place.
‘He is a fearless little puppy and a big hero in our community’s hearts. Moral of this story? Be brave no matter your size.’
The clinic says Trouble’s splint bandage will stay on for two to three weeks, after which the veterinarians will determine the success of the healing process.
