During her relatively short but eventful stay with the Animal Welfare Society of SA Coco reminded them of many valuable life teachings. She also reminded them how important it is to forgive and the importance of bravely soldiering on despite the odds.

“She truly was a very special dog who left indelible pawprints on all of our and many of your hearts”, says the Animal Welfare Society of SA.

On Wednesday, January 5, Coco peacefully passed away after undergoing invasive surgery to remove a massive mammary tumour. Sadly the malignant, partially necrotic mass had metastasized and the deadly cancer had spread throughout her defenceless body.
Her previous despicable owner (a school teacher by profession) needs to accept full accountability for this ominous discovery and fatal outcome. Mammary tumours are not breed specific and can be prevented if dogs are spayed before their first heat.

Coco was never afforded this prospect.
She was shamefully deprived of just about everything needed to ensure that she lived a healthy and happy life.
“To say that we tried and cried would not be an exaggeration but we are now left with the consolation of ensuring that her wicked abusers get to atone for their failings”, the Animal Welfare Society of SA concluded.
