Members of the SAPS confiscated kilos of dagga and other illegal drugs on Friday as part of their high-density, crime prevention efforts.

While deployed in Macassar area, members received information of dagga being sold at an informal settlement in Dorothea Esau Street, Macassar Village.
SAPS spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk said members searched a shack and discovered 23 parcels of dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
‘A 47-year-old woman was arrested on charges of dealing in dagga. The weight of the parcels was 2,19kg.’
‘Once charged she will appear in the Somerset West Magistrates court on the mentioned charge.’
Meanwhile at 9:30pm on Friday, members of Provincial Operation Restore were deployed in Gugulethu when an unknown person informed them that drugs were being kept at a premises in B257 Barcelona.
‘Members found 50 sachets of dagga, one big plastic bag containing dagga and cash of R570 believed to be the proceeds of crime.’
‘A 41-year-old man was arrested for dealing in drugs and will appear at the Athlone Magistrate court once charged.’
In an unrelated matter, during a Manenberg SAPS integrated crime prevention operation, Metro Police arrested two males, aged 38 and 41, for the possession of drugs worth R100 000.
‘During an integrated crime prevention operation Metro Police Officers deployed within the Manenberg SAPS policing precinct were doing stop and searches along Govan Mbeki Road, when they spotted a white Toyota Corolla with two occupants who looked very suspicious,’ Van Wyk explained.
‘When the suspects saw the officers they tried to evade them and sped off.’
‘A car chase ensued and their vehicle was pulled over at the corner of Duinefontein and Govan Mbeki Road.’
‘The driver who was reluctant to get out of the vehicle, was found to be sitting on 1092 mandrax tablet and an amount of uncut tik.’
‘Two compressed dagga sticks were found at the feet of the 41-year-old male passenger.’
The consignment of drugs is valued at approximately R100 000.
‘Both occupants were removed from the vehicle and the drugs were confiscated.’ ‘They face charges of possession of drugs and will appear in the Athlone Magistrate court once charged.’
