The door of a British Airways Boeing 777 was ripped off at Cape Town International Airport on Wednesday morning, 26 January 2022. The wind is not to blame, for a change.
The incident allegedly happened after a tug driver pushed the aircraft while it was still connected to the airbridge — the ‘oopsie’.

The plane was scheduled to fly to London but couldn’t take off, no door and all. BA had to make alternative arrangements for passengers.
“We have apologised to our customers for the slight delay to their departure from Cape Town due to an issue with the original aircraft. Our customers have since been sent safely on their way to London,” the statement read.
Cape Town Airport officials are investigating what caused the breakdown in communication. No one was injured as a result of this accident, reports The South African.
