The Cape Winelands is known for its collection of world-class wine farms and picturesque landscapes, but recently, it’s been making headlines for the abundance of fires that have wreaked havoc on the land.
Reports surfaced of a fire burning out of control on Theronsbergpas near Ceres. NCC Wildfires confirmed that crews have responded to the raging blaze.
In the same vein, the Cape Winelands DM (CWDM) said that fire crews are focusing activities on preventing the loss of electricity pylons, cell towers and property.
“There are 3 ground teams assisted by 6 fire vehicles and fire fighters, bring the total crew to 48. Two more vehicles and crews are on route from Stellenbosch base. Air resources have stood down for the night,” the CWDM expressed.
This incident follows the Michell’s Pass fire outside Ceres which burnt for at least two days.
Thank you to the brave firefighters out there. Updates to follow.
