Abdul Salam appeared at the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Monday morning [March 8] on a charge of murder. He is accused of murdering his wife, Miche Samuels, who he allegedly stabbed while she was driving.

Salam allegedly stabbed Samuels while she was driving on the M5 highway near Ottery on March 4. The incident occurred while her one-year-old baby was in the back seat of the car. After she was stabbed multiple times, she ended up crashing into another car.

Her husband allegedly got out of the car and ran away, but was later apprehended and arrested soon after.

According to NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila, Salam’s case has been postponed to May 5, 2021 for further investigation. The accused has not applied or indicated that he wants to apply for bail.
