The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has launched an investigation into the death of Petrus Miggles, who was allegedly so severely assaulted by police that he has died.
According to The Daily Voice, Miggles, known affectionately as Pietman, was tasered and beaten with a hammer after going to illegally purchase beer in the Ravensmead area over the weekend.
“We took the case docket for further investigation,” said IPID spokesperson Sontaga Siesa today [March 30]. Siesa added that no rest has yet been made.
Miggles reportedly collapsed and died shortly after he was spotted and chased by police. He is believed to have found his way home before collapsing, but managed to tell his family what had transpired first.
