Police who discovered the body of a murdered British citizen (40) found copious amounts of blood when they opened his apartment door on Monday. The victim, who was a British national, was found in his flat in Green Point, and is reportedly from Hertfordshire.

According to reports by News24, neighbours were shocked when police and the fire brigade arrived to investigate the disappearance of the man and watched as they forced their way into his apartment in the Hillside Heights building on Wessels Road.

The man’s vehicle, an Audi A3, was also discovered in the early hours of Tuesday morning on Prestwich Street nearby.

Residents of the apartment building expressed concerns that the murderer may have been staying there, and are concerned about their safety and the building’s access control.

“The investigation into this matter is currently at a very sensitive stage and this office cannot elaborate further on this matter,” said South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson, FC Van Wyk. “A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”

Anyone with information about the murder is encouraged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Botha, on 021 430 3733 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
