A man was shot and killed after he reportedly tried to rob a Golden Arrow bus on the afternoon of 7 February.
According to News24, the incident occurred on the corner of Sheffield and Eisleben roads in Cape Town around 14:00 with a suspect confirmed to have been shot and killed.
During the incident, the suspect is said to have pointed a firearm towards SAPS members. This is when police officers shot him and “he died on the crime scene,” stated IPID spokesperson Grace Langa.
Unfortunately, two other suspects managed to flee the scene.
Two handbags and a cell phone were found in the suspect’s possession, along with a firearm.
This is not the first time the bus service has experienced theft. In late January, a Golden Arrow bus depot in Atlantis was held up by armed robbers around 03:20am. Seven suspects managed to flee with an undisclosed amount of money, reports IOL.
