Masiphumelele High School is set to launch their new sports complex and Judith Neilson Field on Friday, 1 March 2024. The field is named after Dr Judith Neilson, who became a MasiSports patron in 2022, as reported by the False Bay Echo.

Neilson is an Australian philanthropist and businesswoman, whose charitable work as well as her contribution to the arts led to her being appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
MasiSports is an independent non-profit organisation (NPO) that aims to help the schools in Masiphumelele ‘transform their children, teenagers, their families and the community through sport, life-skills training and education’.
MasiSports is involved with two schools, namely Masi High School and Ukhanyo Primary School, according to Vince van der Bijl, founder of MasiSports, in correspondence with Cape {town} Etc.
One of the goals of the organisation is ‘setting up a listing platform’ that includes sport, life-skills training and education, he added.
MasiSports, along with its collaborative partners such as Masicorp and CoolPlay, also provides ‘support, facilities, equipment and training to build the capacity of the school, coaches and school’.
The event will start at 12pm at Masiphumelele High School and continue until 2:30pm. On the agenda are a ’10 min girls soccer match and a 10 min seven-a-side rugby match’, a Cape Town Opera trio performance, chess and other activities.
