Former Western Cape legislature speaker Masizole Mnqasela has announced the formation of a new political party called the Alliance of Citizens for Change (ACC). This comes after being expelled by the DA over allegations of fraud.
The party was officially launched at the Rocklands Civic Centre in Mitchells Plain on Saturday, drawing a crowd of around 400 people who signed up as members – at a charge of R10 each, News24 reports.
Mnqasela emphasized ethical leadership as the foundation of the ACC’s approach, highlighting the party’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being of citizens over personal gain.
He criticized other political parties for promoting division and stated that the ACC aimed to unite the country.
Mnqasela further expressed the party’s readiness to participate in Parliament and bring about real change.
The DA had charged him with misconduct following whistleblowers’ allegations of fraud and corruption related to his expense claims, which were reported to the Hawks. Mnqasela has consistently denied these allegations.
