The statement came just hours after Mbalula criticised Gordhan’s performances in the ministry. Mbalula shared the statement to his Twitter page where the ANC clarified his comments.
‘The present challenges facing our country including load shedding requires a bold resolve on the part of our government in our quest to improve the quality of life of all South Africans. Rail Freight and logistics are essential in building a resilient economy of our country.’

‘The Minister of Public Enterprise will undoubtedly not provide answers alone facing our rail transport system. The fact that a clarion call is sounded on the Minister to fast-track policy interventions to address our rail and fright logistics does not amount to call for his removal.’
‘The ANC will at all material times urge government to move with the necessary speed to implement policy intentions aimed at ensuring a better life to all our people,’ she added.

Mbalula’s original comments were made during the ANCWL’s conference where he issued a stern warning to ‘incompetant’ ministers and premiers. Mbalula addressed Gordhan directly.
‘Now I am going to say to Pravin Gordhan, I was with him there, I was also a minister of transport. Comrade Pravin move faster or otherwise we will move you,’ IOL said.
He added that as the next general elections approach in 2024, the ANC was not looking for coalitions must for outright power.
‘The ANC deserves to be returned to power and we must work to retain our power,’ he said.
