The case against the couple and three other accused continued in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The group is accused of theft of a motor vehicle, common assault, robbery, fraud and contravening Section Nine of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
Stanfield and Johnson were arrested last month for allegedly stealing a BMW in Milnerton in 2022. According to EWN, Johnson claims that the BMW was owned by the girlfriend of one of her employees. She alleges in her affidavit that she paid a deposit on the BMW and that the other woman financed the balance.

Furthermore, Johnson claims that the woman’s boyfriend stole more than R1 million from her business. However, the State’s case implicates all the accused in the theft of the motor vehicle.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says the group will remain behind bars until the defence has responded to the State.
‘I can confirm that the bail application of Mr Ralph Stanfield, his wife and three other accused has been postponed to Friday for the defence to respond to the State’s opposition documents.’
